US student visa: Appointment dates to be released soon. Embassy says, 'Applicants should keep checking for...'

The US Embassy has informed that appointment dates for student visa interviews (US F1 visa) will be released soon without divulging any specific dates. They further, advised students to keep checking the website for the latest update on the same.

"We have already released tens of thousands of appointments and we have tens of thousand of additional appointments for July and August that will be released soon. Applicants should aim to check our website once or twice per day for this upcomig appointment release," a US Embassy official told the Times of India.

Specific details about when more student interview dates will become available are, however, not know. "We cannot give out a specific date, but the next large batch of appointments will be released in the coming weeks," the US Embassy official said.

Students applying for US F-1 visas can apply from their present or resident country, but if they apply outside their country fo origin or residence, it may be harder to demonstrate their ties and qualifications for the visa, according to a US Embassy official.

Last month, US Ambassador Eric Garcetti informed that one out of every five US student visas was issued in India in 2022, which is more than the proportion of Indian population in the world.

The US Mission in India held its seventh annual Student Visa Day countrywide on Wednesday with Consular Officers from New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderaba, Kolkata and Mumbai interviewing almost 3500 Indian student visa applicant.

Speaking on the occasion, Garcetti said, "More Indians come to the United States as students than from any other country in the world. One out of every five student visas was issued right here in India in 2022 which is, by the way, more than the proportion of Indian population in the world. Indians have not only pursued education in the US but for decades have shown excellence. We are on track to process the highest number of visa applications for students in our history."

The ambassador said that they will be making more visa appointments available for students this year than ever.

"In the coming weeks, we will be releasing tens of thousands of student visa appointments for July and August," he added.
